Painting The Pieces

Today as the title explains I have been painting and painting and painting!

We headed over to SIT today with Warren at an earlier time than normal. Normally we got our back packs on and walked around the corner at the start of morning tea but instead I played a quick game of chess against Jacob and then headed over at about 9:30.

So today I painted all of my walls in white including the roof and the floor. It took awhile but it was definitely worth it. We were so lucky because Warren shouted us a hot chocolate and a muffin!

See you Next Time!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I had a very busy day doing my strength based extension where I had to make a crossword. The problem was we couldn't find a website to make it on, but in the end we were able to download a website onto my toolbar.

Today in discovery it was a bit frantic as well running around getting my presentation ready for next fort night. Most of the time I was quickly getting everything in order and cutting them out into paragraphs.

Thank you for reading my blog!

Immigration Start Up

Today Jacob and I went to SIT with our expert Warren for our passion projects (Southern Institute Technology).

We were able to finish all three pyramaids today but only the largest one was dry so we could take all the tape off. Now I can use a plane which is a tool that makes angles on an end of a piece of wood.

This morning we had a discovery seesion about immigration. That is our new big topic within our ancestry project. We need to explain what immigration is, (Explanation below) and six good things about immigration and six bad things about immigration.

Immigration is when someone that was born in a different nation has moved to a different nation (country) to live in for a long time or even the rest of their lives.

SIT VISIT

Monday, Monday, Monday Already!!!

Hello! Today Jacob and I went to SIT (Southern Institute of Technology) with mine and Jacob's expert, Warren. Warren showed us around SIT and it is pretty cool. There is all sorts of different subjects you can choose to learn about.

After the tour we went to the carpentry and joinery department where we were going to do our work. Then Warren told me some bad news. Sadly the type of wood we were going to use was too small so Warren was going to sort that out during the week.

So we decided I could just help out Jacob with his project today. We took a camera with us so we could get some images to show the class.  We cut out all the pieces for one of the boards in the right size and sanded them.

                                                         See You Next Week!!!

Type, Type, Type!!!

Type, Type Type!!!

Hello! Today we did newspaper with Nicola. It was so exciting because I have thinking of an idea for the whole week. It was about the upcoming international staged rugby. I was talking about the 2015 rugby world cup. It is going to be held in England from the 18th of September to the 31st of October.

Today my helper from SIT (Southern Institute of Technology) came in. He told me I could come with him to work next week. All we have to do now is choose the colours I am going to paint it, get all the pieces of board I need, cut out the shapes and put it together.

This afternoon I am working on my family past project. At the moment I am making a family tree. On my Dad's side of the family I am going up to the Great Grandparents and on my Mum's side I am going up to my Great-Great Grandparents. Their personal information includes their date of birth, date of death if they are not alive, date of marriage if they got married, their job, where they died if they have and where they were born.

                                             Thanks for reading my blog!!!!!

Discover My Past!!

Hello!

In discovery today I started on my country of importance which is Scotland. I am suppose to write down multiple important facts about Scotland. Things like, Capital city, other big cities and the population of this country.  I found out when and who played the first ever football match that was played in 1872. It was England who played Scotland in London. The score was 0-0.  I also found out that there is over 300 railway stations across the whole of Scotland.

First Day Back!

Hello, it is the first day back from the holidays!

Today we started off the term by playing Piccadilly Circus. We haven't played it in a while so it's good to be back playing it again. Our high score with one ball was 29sec so that was pretty good. Our high score with two balls was 33sec.

After the game we started a new rotation. But this time we did all three in one day. I am going to talk to you about Katie's rotation. We were having a discussion about Tannenbaum's model of giftedness. This one has 5 points to it. Renzuli's model of giftedness has 3 points to it. The other model of giftedness is gagne's model of giftedness. His is real meaty and has a lot of information in it.

The 5 points to it are chance, environmental support, general ability, special aptitude and nonintellective requests.

What a great day back at EnrichILT!

Excellent Adventures Day!

WEEK 9 AT ENRICH

Passion Projects
Today Warren my helper came in and gave me a list of things to do for the rest of the week. I am working on my layout. Where all the rooms are and what walls would go up where. I have done all my measurements of the height, length and width of the house. It is going to be two storied with a balcony and a single doored garage.

Discover My Past
Today I started typing my 15 questions out onto pages. I interviewed my Auntie Belinda and she gave me good full answers.

See you later!

First Week of Passion Time!

Hello!

This week it's our first week of passion time. Passion Time is when each student does a project about their passion.  That could be...

Clay, Robot-ix, Green screening, Painting and the one that I'm doing, building a doll house!

But I prefer to call it a miniature home. Doll house sounds a bit girlish.  It is going to be very detailed because it will have a chimney, different coloured paints, real glass for windows and opening and shutting doors.

Today I sketched what it will look like. It was hard because I barely knew how to draw 3D.

I e-mailed my helper who is hopefully coming in.

See you next week!

Passion Projects Getting Sorted!

Finally, Passion Projects!

Today we are going to sort out all the things we need for our passion projects and what passion project everybody is doing. I'm planning on making a little doll house out of wood. But it isn't confirmed. I was looking to do stone calving but I changed my mind.

Before blogging we did a reflection sheet looking back on the list of big ideas that we made before we started are discovery. What we had to do was list if we didn't or did use each big idea (throughout the term), and write how. Since we had 22 big ideas we obviously had to consider 22 BIG ideas. If we didn't use the big idea, we had to write down "no I did not use this big idea".

See back in Term 2!

King of the Table

Hello!

31/3/14   Wuzzles/King of the Table

WORDS WORDS WORDS! Today we did Wuzzles with the one and only NICOLA! At the start of the session we did a warm-up. First Nicola says a word and the group has to make as many words out of that word. Sounds confusing. But anyway after three minutes we counted our total. Charlie came first with 20 correct words. (The one in the middle in the photograph). So he got the silver hat. Then there's Thomas that came tied second with me with the score of 19.( he's the one on the left) So that leaves me on the right side.

We have to wear these hats for the rest of the day!

Everybody Was Puzzled!

Um um, everybody was puzzled. Completely brain washed about the Scholarly Habits this morning. What we had to do was say a scholarly habit that we have used during the past week. Since we were so brain-washed, and couldn't really remember any of the habits, Katie said that we have to name all the scholarly habits by the end of the day. Luckily we had a session about scholarly habits with Nicola. We watched a one news video clip interviewing Lorde's music teacher. We had to tick all the scholarly habits that Lorde uses. In the end we ticked all the boxes. A big one that she used was Academic Humility. For example,  when she found out she was going to the Grammies she didn't rub it in other peoples faces. Then we had to tick the ones that we use regularly and write down an example of us using it. All the ones that we don't use, we just put them on a wee sticky tab and put in our book and look back later in the year.

The scholarly habits are...

1.Ponder Ideas       2.Intellectual Risk Taking
3.Preparation        4.Excellence
5.Academic Humility  6.Curiosity
7.Save Ideas         8.Multiple Perspectives
9.Perserverance      10.Varied Resources
11.Goal Setting

When you are nervous, what do you do?

When you are nervous what do you do?

Today we had to write down ten questions and interview a class mate for them to answer. It was all about open and closed questions. For example, a closed question would be a yes or no answer and a open question would be a full sentence answer. My class mate was Thomas. After that we had to open up pages and write the questions we asked and the answer they said. We used a head set so everyone didn't have to listen to there interview over and over again.
A couple of questions I asked were...

Whats your favorite animal out of a cat and a dog?
While your in a running race what are you thinking about?

See you next week!

First blog for 2014!

Hello

This is the first blog for 2014! There is a new teacher this year and his name is Paul. Today I had Paul as my teacher in three sessions. They were; the invention key, tangrams and what is giftedness?
My favorite session was what is giftedness so I will tell you about that. What we had to do was for each statement go to the place that we think showed if the person was gifted or not. There were three places on the continuum: not gifted, sort of gifted and definitely gifted. My passion project this year is going to be stone calving. This year my goal is to stay at the same task and finish that task.

I hope you liked the first blog for 2014!
Good Bye!
